The Green Bay Packers were one game away from reaching the championship last season but fell to the San Francisco 49ers 31-45 in the NFC divisional round to settle for an 11-5 overall record and left the "cheesehead" fans wondering what could have been.
The Packers had a rough time in the conference going a mediocre 8-4 in the NFC but managed to own the division going 5-1 in the NFC North. 2014 Super Bowl odds to win in Vegas have listed Green bay as 12/1 favorites to hoist the Lombardi trophy in victory this year. The Packers are also favored to win the NFC Conference at 6/1 while winning the North division seems inevitable at -160. Green Bay won a total of 11-games last season and regular season win totals for this year expect much of the same listing the squad at 10.5 (-115). QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 4,295-yards for 39-touchdowns to rank the offense in the top-10 for passing yards with an average of 253.1-per game (9th) and is expected to do much of the same this year being listed as a 13/2 favorites behind Peyton Manning to win the NFL MVP award.
The running game however left much to be desired with an average of 106.4-rushing yards per game to rank 20th in the league last season. Rodgers actually led in rushing touchdowns with 2-on the year which gave the team 9-total TD's for the season. For the Packers to have any chance of covering the 12/1 futures in 2014 Super Bowl odds, Green Bay will need to find some way for the running backs to contribute more. Green Bay will start week 1 on September 8th at the San Francisco 49ers before heading back home in week 2 to host RGIII and the Washington Redskins on September 15th.
