Although the Denver Broncos lost to the eventual champion Baltimore Ravens (35-38 2OT) in the NFC Divisional championship of last year's playoffs, a 13-3 overall record orchestrated by QB Peyton Manning put the gambling world on notice.
The Broncos also owned the AFC conference last season going 10-2 overall with a perfect 6-0 mark against divisional teams in the West. Bookmakers are expecting much of the same from Denver this year listing the squad as 6/1 favorites in 2014 Super Bowl lines to win the championship, 5/2 to win the AFC and -400 to win the West. The regular season win total for the Broncos has been set at 11.5 (-115). Manning will be the key to Denver's success this year finishing with 4,659-yards for 37-touchdowns last season to rank the offense 5th in the league for passing yards with an average of 283.4-yards per game. Manning has also been listed as the clear favorite to win the NFL MVP award at 5/1. WR Damaryius Thomas will look to better an impressive season consisting of 1,434-yards for 10-touchdowns while WR Eric Decker will do the same hauling in 1,064-yards for 13-TD's.
While the passing game is expected to be firing on all cylinders this season, the running back tandem of Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno will need to contribute more than 8-touchdowns this year if Denver is to have a chance at hoisting the Lombardi trophy. Perhaps the most impressive turn around wearing orange and blue last season was the defensive line and secondary. The Broncos ranked 3rd in both passing yards holding opponents to just 199.6-per game and rushing yards allowing just 91.1-per game. Denver will start the week 1 as 6/1 favorites in 2014 Super Bowl lines when they host the Ravens for Thursday night football on September 5th before traveling to face the New York Giants on September 15th.
